DESCRIPTION:The District Committee on Superintendency invites you to an Open House reception in celebration of Rev. Abel Roy’s eight years of ministry as Superintendent for the Mohawk Valley District and Northeast Region from 3-5pm\, Saturday\, May 20\, at First UMC\, 105 Genesee Street\, New Hartford\, NY.  This event will be an Open House-style reception.  There will be a short program at 4pm.  There are no gifts\, however\, Rev. Roy invites you to make a gift to your local church in his honor\, if you should choose to do so.  There will be a memory book at the celebration for those who wish to write a note for the Superintendent. \nRev. DESCRIPTION:On Saturday\, January 7th we will be starting a new study along with exercise!  Walking In The Word will begin at 1pm at:  The Rayhill Memorial Trail access parking lot on Middle Settlement Road in New Hartford (next to OHM BOCES\, across Stewart’s).  We will start each walk with a prayer and a brief scripture reading from the Book of James.  The mission of this group is to fellowship with one another while getting a positive boost from scripture\, outdoor exercise\, fresh air\, and opportunities to explore beautiful walking paths in the Mohawk Valley.  Dress in warm layers\, prepared for the outdoor elements.  Wear boots/walking shoes that are comfortable\, gloves\, a hat or hood\, and bring water.  We will walk one mile out and one mile back while supporting each other all the way.  We plan to lead two walks a month at a variety of area trails.\n“As you therefore have received Christ Jesus the Lord\, so walk in Him\, rooted and built up in Him and established in the faith\, as you have been taught\, abounding in it with thanksgiving.” Colossians 2:6-7 (NKJV)

DESCRIPTION:On Christmas Eve we will light the final candle\, the Christ candle.  Our hope and prayer is that everyone who reads this email will come and celebrate Christ’s birth with us.  Worship begins and 4pm.  There will be a special message for the children\, we will share in the Lord’s super\, and we will participate in the lighting of candles while singing “Silent Night”.  Please pray about joining us and bringing your family and friends.

DESCRIPTION:Sunday\, December 18th is the fourth Sunday of Advent and is represented by the candle of LOVE.  LOVE is the greatest gift that one can give or receive.  One can have an expensive car\, loads of jewelry\, name brand clothes or the biggest most extravagant house in the world\, but if they don’t know how to give or receive love than they have nothing.  There is a quote that was in a Woman’s Day magazine by Mary C. Neal and it states\, “The more we love\, the more we have to offer.  So it is with God’s love for us.  It is inexhaustible.”  Let our love during this Christmas season and beyond be like that of God.  The One who taught us how to love unconditionally.

SUMMARY:Third Advent - Joy
DESCRIPTION:Sunday\, December 11th is the third Sunday of Advent and is represented by the candle of JOY.  Sometimes it is hard to be JOYful or feel JOYous\, even at Christmas time.  We all have hurts and/or heartache in our lives.  But the good news is that we can find JOY in the little things.  All we need to do is let go and let God show it to us.  Like when you see a child squeal at the excitement of seeing Santa Claus in the mall.  How about when you see a new puppy or kitten playing with their siblings?! The hug from a friend who knows that you are hurting\, which came to you at just the right moment.  You might not feel outwardly joyful\, but your heart feels it.  Paul tells the people of Thessalonica in 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18 “Rejoice always\, pray continually\, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.” (NIV)
